CASE STUDY: Contigo — Snow & Alpine Campaign Photography
Snow and alpine campaign photography for Contigo

Contigo's insulated drinkware is built for exactly the conditions most product photography avoids. To sell that promise properly, the products needed to be photographed in genuine alpine and snow conditions, showing them in realistic outdoor use.
We produced the campaign over approximately one week across Victorian snow resorts and alpine locations, led by Lisa Saad, Principal Photographer at Gotham Studios Melbourne. Like the back-to-school campaign, the imagery was produced for Contigo's European market.
The brief
Produce a library of outdoor campaign imagery for Contigo's European market, combining product-only and lifestyle photography with talent, across genuine Victorian snow and alpine locations.
The challenge — alpine conditions set the schedule, not us
Snow and alpine photography brings rapidly changing weather, difficult access, cold conditions and strict safety considerations. Light, visibility and safe working conditions can change within minutes.
The practical consequence is that a fixed shot-by-shot schedule is useless. You can't decide on Monday what you'll shoot on Thursday when Thursday's visibility is unknown.
On top of that: working safely and efficiently in changing snow and weather while protecting equipment, managing the products, and maintaining consistency across a week of imagery shot in genuinely different conditions from one day to the next.

How we solved it
We kept the schedule deliberately flexible for the full week, photographing whenever weather, visibility and safety conditions permitted rather than working to fixed session times. In alpine conditions that flexibility isn't a compromise — it's the only workable production model.
We ran both talent-based lifestyle setups and product-only setups, adapting locations and shot requirements throughout the week as conditions allowed. Having two shoot formats ready at all times meant that when a window opened, we could shoot whatever that window suited.
All work was carried out following resort and alpine safety procedures, and we worked appropriately within the cold environment throughout — protecting equipment and managing the products between setups so they presented cleanly on camera.
The result

The final campaign library combined product-only and lifestyle imagery, presenting the range naturally within genuine Victorian alpine and snow environments — a setting no studio can convincingly fake.
Why this matters for your brand
If your product's value proposition is about performance in real conditions, shooting it in those conditions is the proof.
But the planning model matters more than the location. Weather-dependent campaigns work when the schedule is built to flex and the crew has multiple shot formats ready to go — so no window is wasted and no day is lost waiting. Book the time, not the timetable.
