Frequently Asked Questions.
How many people attend the workshops?
The workshops are limited to just eight participants when presented at the Gotham Studio Melbourne location (no more than ten, if required) the workshops are planned to be small and exclusive so all participants can gain the maximum amount of contact with the presenter out of each workshop.
What experience level do I need to be to join the workshop?
The workshops are open to all levels and types of photographers – we only ask that you are engaged, willing to learn and understand the basics of how to use your camera in manual mode. These workshops aren’t just for experienced photographers. They are for everyone! In fact we have a lot of ametures, emerging and hobbyists photographers attend looking to gain more insight into the art of photography.
What does the schedule look like on the day of the workshop?
The schedule for each workshop day can vary – usually our workshops start with an introduction and refreshments, followed by part one of the workshop, refreshments and then continuing to the second part of the workshop. Our workshops usually start at 10AM and finish between 12PM and 2PM depending on the workshop length. What equipment do I need to bring?
We recommend you bring a digital SLR, a couple of lenses for variety if you are participating in a walking tour or camera and lighting specific workshops. Please also bring a few memory cards, a spare batteries and your portfolio (this can be an iPad, printed portfolio or on your laptop! If you are joining a retouching session you will be required to bring a laptop to follow along. Additional information (if required) about equipment will be emailed to students before the workshop.
Is accommodation/travel costs included in the cost of the workshop?
The cost only covers the workshop (unless stated). You will be responsible for booking your own accommodation and travel.
How do I book my spot on the workshop?
To book a space on the workshop, you will need to pay using the shopping cart. This will confirm your space.
Is my payment refundable?
We understand that sometimes unexpected changes happen so we try to be as flexible as possible with cancellations. We need to be notified of your cancellation as soon as possible – if you decide to cancel 21 days before the workshop then the we can refund you in full, this will also give us time to give someone else the space. If you cancel after the 21 days notice the payment is non-refundable. However, we will allow the payment to be used as credit towards another workshop if you wish to do so.
What happens if you cancel a workshop date?
If we have to cancel a workshop we will notify you as soon as possible, and either refund you the deposit or credit it towards another course.
What are the usage terms of the images we take on the workshop?
The images taken by each individual are for non-commercial use only – you are allowed to use the images for your printed portfolio, websites and on your social media channels. Any commercial usage (print sales, exhibitions etc) are not permissable unless requested in writing to Gotham Studios Melbourne at firstname.lastname@example.org
Are there any scholarships available and/or can I get a certificate for the workshops?
Unfortunately at this time we don’t offer scholarships. However this is subject to change depending on the course schedule and location. Since this is not a workshop that is part of an organization we do not give certificates to attendees.
Terms And Conditions
Gotham Studios Melbourne / Terms & Conditions Agreement
Note to attendee – Please read all before booking.
The Workshops are operated by Gotham Studios Melbourne a division of Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd here forth known as Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd. These terms and conditions form the agreement between you the attendee and Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd. By booking a workshop and reading this agreement, you agree to abide and be bound by these terms and conditions. If you have any questions or concerns about this agreement, please email@example.com.
1.0 In order to get the most out of the workshop, you should ensure that you arrive on time and attend each session in full. If you are unable to attend you must notify us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org Latecomers are admitted only at the discretion of the workshop leader. You are not entitled to a refund if, because of your lateness, you miss all or a portion of the workshop.
1.1 If behaviour or conduct is deemed unacceptable or inappropriate, you will be asked to leave the workshop. No refund of fees will refunded.
1.2 Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd is entitled to change the venue or make changes to the structure of the workshop. In the unlikely event that changes are made there will be notice made to all attendees as soon as possible.
2 Fees & Cancellations
2.1 Unexpected cancellations happen with attendance and you may request a refund. We need to be notified of your cancellation as soon as possible – if you decide to cancel 21 days before the workshop then the we can refund you in full. If you cancel under the 21 days notice the payment is non-refundable. However, we will allow the payment to be used as credit towards another workshop if you wish to do so.
2.2 You must pay the full amount of each workshop attending upfront via the shopping cart.
2.3 If fees are not paid by due date, Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd will be entitled to reallocate your place. You shall remain liable for the remainder of the full fee for the workshop if we are not able to fill your place in the workshop.
2.4 Course transfer – If you are unable to attend the course and notify us 2 weeks prior to the course start date you may transfer your booking to a future course. Please note if the future course is a higher fee you will be charged for the additional amount. If the cost of the future workshop is lower than the cost of your original workshop, any amount you paid in excess of the cost of the substituted workshop will be applied to the balance of the fee due for the substituted workshop. Course transfer credit is only allowed to be used up to 6 months after payment is made.
2.6 Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd may cancel a workshop at any time prior to commencement. In the unlikely event that we cancel a workshop Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd will notify you as soon as possible and any fees received from you will be refunded. Please note that Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd will not refund travel or accommodation costs for cancelled courses.
2.7 Elements of each workshop (e.g.: venue, models, speakers etc.) may be subject to change without notice. No refunds will be given in the event of any such changes although we will endeavour to notify you, if possible, of the changes.
3 Image Usage & Privacy
3.1 Attendees are not permitted to use images taken at the workshop for commercial purposes of any talent made available for the workshop. Image usage is strictly portfolio use only (website and online). Social media usage is allowed but only to showcase your portfolio. Images must not be submitted to magazines, exhibitions or competitions without permission. Images must not be used to advertise photo shoots, workshops or products. Any images photographed during the walks that do not contain any supplied talent are exempt.
3.2 You acknowledge that we have advised you that none of the participants in the workshop have given releases allowing commercial use of any images taken at the workshop and that you may be subject to legal liability if you use any images commercially. You agree to indemnify and defend Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd, its members officers and employees and all other participants in the workshop from any claims, losses, costs or expenses (including legal fees and disbursements) arising out of or relating to any claim that you have used an image taken at the workshop in any manner that is not permitted in this Agreement.
3.3 If you are unsure about what is a permitted usage, please contact Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd for confirmation; provided that, you shall not be relieved of any obligations under paragraph 3.2, above.
3.4 Attendees must credit ‘Gotham Studios Melbourne Workshops’ when posting images on social media.
3.5 Attendees must not film or record the workshop at any time without permission.
4.1 Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd is not responsible for any personal injury or damage to property arising from incidents occurring at the workshop venue.
4.2 Please be aware of where you keep your belongings at the workshop and please remember to check your equipment at the end of the workshop so you do not leave anything behind. We are not responsible for loss of, or damage to, your personal property.
5.1 The Contract contains all the terms agreed between you and Lisa Saad Photography Pty Ltd and supersedes any discussions or other information previously provided concerning the workshops.
APPA 2017 Judging

For 2017 the APPA judging will be held at Melbourne Olympic Park Function Centre. Friday 25th - Sunday 27th August 2017. Judging is free to attend and a professional trade show will take place at the venue which entry is also free to attend. Learn more: www.aippappa.com/appa-2017/2017-venue
